Federal Golden Age Passport
You can purchase a lifetime pass to national parks, monuments, historic sites, recreation areas and national wildlife refuges for $10. This also entitles you to a 50% discount on fees for facilities and services (like camping, swimming, parking, boat launching, cave tours). Contact the National Park Service at 1-202-208-4747.
Federal Golden Access Passport
This is free to the blind and disabled of any age. It provides lifetime entrance permits and discounts on fees to federal parks, monuments, historic sites and recreation areas in the U.S. Obtain it in person at all National Park Service and Forest Service offices and National Park Service areas where entrance fees are charged.
New York State Parks' Golden Park Program
Residents 62 and older may receive free vehicle access to state parks and recreational facilities, fee reduction to state historic sites and reductions on costs for some park activities. Call 1-518-474-0456 for information.
New York State Sporting License
Various discounts and fee waivers may apply to military personnel, disabled veterans, or seniors over 70 for hunting and fishing licenses.
Exercise Clubs
Many exercise clubs, racquet clubs and swim clubs offer discounts for seniors. Check with clubs in your area to see what discounts they may offer.
Empire State Senior Games
Get ready for the Empire State Senior Games! The Games are an organized sports and leisure program for New York State residents ages 50 and older. They combine sports and games with fitness, fun and fellowship while encouraging fitness as a lifelong activity. They provide recreational opportunities and help promote a positive public image of older New Yorkers.
Many participants have been attending for years and enjoy the competition, renew old friendships and establish new ones. It all makes the days at the Games a memorable experience!
The Senior Games attracts nearly 2000 athletes, along with guests and friends, from across New York State. Athletes participate in more than 20 competitive sports and recreational events. There are also instructional clinics, informational exhibits, and educational seminars. Each evening features an informal social event planned specifically for Senior Games participants.
