SCSEP Brings Jobs and Older New Yorkers Together

What is the Senior Employment Program? The Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) is a program for income eligible adults age 55 and over who want to work but need training to make them job-ready.

Once enrolled, participants are placed in agencies where they learn the skills and work habits needed to gain employment. While at the agency a participant works part-time (usually 20 hours a week) and is paid minimum wage while honing new skills.

Specialized classes and services are also available to help people be ready and confident for the working world.

All counties in New York State have a SCSEP program and most are coordinated by the local Office for the Aging. If you are 55 or older and want to work, call your local Office for the Aging or the New York State Office for the Aging (1-800-342-9871) for more information.
