Access To Home (Modification) Program
This New York State program provides financial assistance to property owners to make home modifications or adaptations to meet the needs of low-income homeowners and renters with disabilities, in order to enable them to continue living in their own homes and apartments safely and comfortably—for example, ramps, wheel chair lifts, handrails, lever handles, roll-in showers, sit-to-work space in kitchens and work areas, etc. Under this program, "forgivable" loans (up to $25,000 per property) are available to owners of property in which the low-income occupant is physically disabled or is a senior who has substantial difficulty with an activity of daily living.
