• Broome County
  • Aging Futures
    A planning project that involves more than 60 agencies, businesses, faith communities and older persons responding to the needs of the Broome County senior population. http://www.agingfutures.org/agingfutures
  • Elder Friendly Businesses
    Using specific guidelines, volunteer evaluators "shop" a business anonymously. These evaluators review the effectiveness of telephone and customer service, building layout and access. http://www.gobroomecounty.com/senior/elder-friendly-businesses
• Chemung County
  • The Chemung County Dept. of Aging & Long Term Care received a grant from AARP to work on universal design initiatives
  • Chemung County Department of Aging and Long Term Care
    NYSOFA grantee - This initiative will include collaborations between the Department, local and regional not-for-profit organizations, business groups, government entities, aging services organizations, educational institutions, community associations, faith-based organizations, older adults and other interested individuals.
  • June 19 Planning for a Livable Community Conference Results -
    Workgroup meetings will be held on: Health Care and Human Services; Economic Development (to include employment, education & environment); Civic Engagement (to include arts & culture, leisure, recreation & volunteerism); Housing and Transportation.
  • The Chemung County Community Empowerment survey was available on-line until December 15, 2009 to receive input from residents on their ideas for how to promote successful aging and quality of life for all ages.
  • Youth & Community Foundation of Spencer- Van Etten
    Senior Information and Referral Service – Neighbors helping neighbors: light housekeeping and minor home repair, friendly visit, transportation to appointments, library services.
• Delaware County
  • Join the Delaware County Office for the Aging : Camping to Create Caring Communities - an outdoor community building experience for adults August 28-30, 2009 More camp Information
  • The Delaware County Office for the Aging received a CTAA Transportation Coordination Grant to further explore the possibility of countywide transportation coordination.
  • Two housing initiatives are underway. One explores housing issues for seniors. The other focuses on a modified co-housing cottage cluster concept.
• Steuben County
  • The Steuben County Office for the Aging received a grant from AARP to work on universal design initiatives
  • Steuben County Office for the Aging
    NYSOFA grantee - An Aging in Place Leadership Team was recently formed in recognition that there are "naturally occurring retirement communities" in the County.
  • The Town of Pulteney has completed an aging in place feasibility study http://www.steubencony.org/Pulteney_Feasibility_Study.pdf
