- May 12, 2010 Community Forum - The Capital District Senior Issues Forum hosts "Aging Friendly Community/Livability for All: Capital Region Initiatives." There is no registration fee, but registration is required.
- Eddy Alzeheimer’s Volunteer Care Team Program - volunteers providing non-medical support to families caring for someone with dementia, service Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga and Schenectady communities
- Umbrella of the Capital District
is a nonprofit agency helping senior citizens and persons with
disabilities live comfortably and safely in their own homes, by providing low cost home
maintenance and a wide variety of personal services. http://theumbrella.org/ - Albany County
- Albany County Department of Social Services NYSOFA grantee serving Albany and Schenectady county residents - The proposed project involves a two-pronged approach to planning for and creating aging and disabled friendly communities.
- "Albany and Schenectady counties will share a $25,000 state grant to develop community services that will allow the elderly to stay in their homes for as long as possible"

- Community Caregivers – volunteers provide no cost supportive services
- The following Naturally Occurring Retirement Communities are in place:
- Albany Community Elder Support NNORC
- Transportation service for Albany City residents age 60 or over
- can take you to and from ANY business in the city; including our Senior Centers and our Adult Day Care facility, the grocery store, a restaurant, the movies, to a loved one's home, provided by Senior Services of Albany. - Transportation service for Town of Bethlehem residents
- Bethlehem Senior Services and Bethlehem Senior Projects, Inc. provide transportation for independently living Town residents, age 60 and over, to medical and dental appointments, for therapy, groceries and clinic appointments and to a variety of pre-scheduled social and recreational programs. Community volunteers assist with van reservations and drive the vehicles.
- Saratoga:
- Care Links
– serving Saratoga County towns of Clifton Park, Halfmoon, Malta
and Mechanicville. – sponsored by Shenendehowa Senior Citizens Inc. volunteers provide no
cost supportive services to persons 60 and over, friendly visiting, transportation, respite
assistance, shopping and errands, meal preparation, handy helping, telephone reassurance,
information & referral - Connecting Smart Growth and Active Aging - The benefits of building healthy communities for active aging are being realized in communities across the country. The City of Saratoga Springs has created a mix of housing opportunities near the Saratoga Senior Center and medical facilities. By living near key amenities, older residents may choose to walk rather than drive.
- Saratoga Vital Aging Network (SVAN)
promotes self-determination, civic engagement, and personal growth for people as they age, through education and advocacy. SVAN partners with community
organizations such as Skidmore College, land use committees, health care providers, Saratoga
County Arts Council, and government officials. These collaborations provide educational and
cultural opportunities, public forums and social events to enhance the life of people over 50 who choose to remain vital as they age. http://www.saratogavitalaging.org/ - The following Naturally Occurring Retirement Communities are in place:

- Low Cost, Off-Hours Transportation in Schenectady: Catholic Charities and the ARC Schenectady collaborated to implement a new senior transportation service that is now providing fee for service, non-medical transportation to seniors and persons with disabilities during the weekends.

- Community Action Group of Glens Falls Transportation Program
- Aging in Place Glens Falls
– volunteer-based supports for older residents living in their own homes. www.aginginplaceglensfalls.org - Upper Hudson Primary Care Consortium NYSOFA grantee – Serving Warren and Washington Counties - The Adirondack Rural Health Network will invite broad participation of consumers, service providers and community leaders in the planning process.
